School Uniform Policy
Uniform Guidelines
At King Edward VII School we believe that our uniform supports effective teaching and learning. The latest guidelines (October 2007) issued by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) cite the following as reasons for encouraging school uniform;

To support positive behaviour and discipline

To encourage identity with, and support for, school ethos

To ensure pupils of all races and backgrounds feel welcome

To protect children from social pressures to dress in a particular way

To nurture cohesion and promote good relations between different groups of pupils
School Uniform

Navy Blazer with the school crest
-
White formal shirt
-
School Tie (clip on for Year 7 and 8)

Navy sweater, cardigan or slip over with gold trim

Suitable topcoat, anorak or fleece

Plain black shoes with low heels. No trainers or boots

Trousers and Skirts charcoal

Trousers must be tailored not fashion items such as flares. Belts must be black in colour and attached through belt loops.
Jewellery and visible body piercing are not permitted in school for reasons of loss, damage and safety. These exceptions are allowed :-
Hair must be of ‘natural’ looking colour with no ‘extreme’ or ‘offensive’ styles.
Discreet makeup may be worn.
